Scalda is an institute for vocational and adult education. This institute is located in Zeeland, a province in the South west of the Netherlands. Scalda is one of the old names for the “Schelde”, the river that flows into the North Sea in Zeeland. We cater to the needs of young and adult students both within and outside the borders of the province of Zeeland. As a link between schools for pre-vocational secondary education and the job market (and institutes for higher education) we are a key player within the economic and educational systems in our region.
Scalda consists of nine faculties which in their turn are subdivided into teams responsible for the complete course programme leading up to specific formal qualifications. Scalda offers a wide range of programmes in the fields of engineering, IT, health, social work, business, leisure and hospitality, sports, logistics and nautical services. Our programmes are aimed at youth obtaining their first formal qualifications as well as adults wishing to further their education.
In 2012, 11,162 student were enrolled with Scalda (9,493 students in vocational training programs and 1,669 in adult education programmes). Scalda is interested in working with foreign partners, exchanging of students, staff, work placements and expertise. Long term commitment, shared goals and mutual trust are important criteria for embarking upon internationalization projects.
